Howard W. Lutnick is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BGC Partners, Inc., a leading global brokerage company primarily servicing the wholesale financial and real estate markets. In addition, Mr. Lutnick is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P., one of the world’s leading financial services firms.

Mr. Lutnick directs all facets of BGC Partners’ operations from the company’s New York City headquarters. BGC serves the world’s largest banks, broker-dealers, investment banks, trading firms, hedge funds, governments, corporations, property owners, real estate developers and investment firms. The Company’s products include fixed income securities, interest rate swaps, foreign exchange, equities, equity derivatives, credit derivatives, commercial real estate, commodities, futures, structured products, and other asset classes. BGC also provides trade execution, broker-dealer services, clearing, processing, information, and other back-office services to a broad range of financial and non-financial institutions. Through its BGC Trader and BGC Market Data brands, BGC offers financial technology solutions, market data, and analytics related to select financial instruments and markets.
BGC entered the commercial real estate industry in 2011 when it acquired brokerage firm Newmark Knight Frank. The following year BGC acquired assets of Grubb & Ellis, forming Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, one of the world's leading commercial real estate advisory firms. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank’s full range of services includes leasing advisory, global corporate services, investment sales and capital markets, property and facilities management, program and project management, and valuation and advisory services. Its integrated platform provides clients with a single-source solution for every phase of occupying or owning a property - from strategic planning, site selection, design, construction and initial occupancy to ongoing cost-effective operations and dispositions.
Mr. Lutnick is a graduate of Haverford College and holds a degree in economics. He joined Cantor Fitzgerald in 1983 and was appointed President and CEO in 1991. Five years later he was named Chairman. He rebuilt the firm following the tragic losses suffered on September 11, 2001, and since then has encouraged corporate philanthropy across BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald through their annual Charity Day. Both firms, working with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, donate 100% of their revenues from Charity Day to approximately 150 charities around the world and to date have raised approximately $89 million. In addition both firms, together with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, committed $10 million to assist thousands of families in the New York and New Jersey areas who were severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Recently, Mr. Lutnick announced a new commitment of $2 million to help victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes.
Mr. Lutnick is a member of several boards, including Haverford College, Intrepid Museum Foundation, National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the Zachary and Elizabeth M. Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research at Rockefeller University, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum Foundation, and The Partnership for New York City. Mr. Lutnick received the Department of the Navy's Distinguished Public Service Award, the highest honor granted to non-military personnel by the Navy. Mr. Lutnick and his wife Allison are proud parents of four children.
