Global Network Engineering and Operations Manager


BGC Partners is looking for a Global Manager for the Network Engineering and Operations team to help provide high-level support and technical expertise. We are looking for a leader with an engineering background to support a global network with presence in 10 countries. You will contribute in the development of guidelines and procedures for implementation of best practices while implementing technological advancements throughout the firm. You will research and define cost effective, state-of-the-art and flexible integrated network infrastructure solutions to meet corporate business needs and future growth. You will define and document solutions involving multiple functional areas to ensure the correct inter-working of the infrastructure elements that support those functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide planning and implementation for new initiatives and expansion of existing infrastructures
  • Evaluate projects and technical requirements, and validate the proposed solutions/products fit within Network Architecture and Technology Roadmap
  • Formulate/create/balance a solution structure to meet requirements/ goals and constraints
  • Document high level network and operational designs, including definition of inter-dependencies and risks
  • Conduct lab verification of expected operational and technical behaviors
  • Validate the network implementation; ensuring delivered solutions are consistent with established architectural and business goals
  • Work with technical teams on support functions; including routine troubleshooting, vendor interaction and ticketing
  • Respond to third level support requests, providing on-call rotation and advanced troubleshooting


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Typically 7 – 10 years technical experience
  • 5 years at a financial markets firm, consulting within the financial markets or entrepreneurial experience highly preferred
  • 5 years managing large implementation projects

Advanced-level knowledge of

  • R/S: OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, L2 architectures
  • Multicast: PIM-SM, MSDP, AnyCastRP
  • Security: Firewalling, ACLs, industry best practice, Internet architectures
  • Load Balancing: F5 LB, iRules, persistence, etc.
  • VPN: IPSec and SSL
  • Wireless: standards, security, radio placement, etc.
  • VoIP: QoS and SIP/SIP trunking
  • MPLS VPN technologies including L3VPN and VPLS


  • Advanced technical problem solving skills
  • Skilled in managing technical tools and implementing networks
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking and design architectures to relatively simple and routine situations
  • Ability to work at an abstract architectural, as well as operational level
  • Flexible approach and an ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines


  • Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional – Enterprise (JNCIP-ENT) or higher
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
  • Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
