Yevette Tierney Named One Of The Top 100 Women In Finance - Financial News
Financial News, September 24, 2009
The third Financial News 100 list of the most influential women in finance was published this week. It comes at a critical time for the financial services sector and we are delighted that Yevette Tierney, Chief information officer, BGC Partners has been named.
The 100 women named by Financial News in this survey have been marked for influence over their area, leadership within their sector, performance over the past year, and their capacity to shape their business and industry over the year to come.
Both the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Treasury Select Committee have launched inquiries into the role of women in the city and the new Equality Bill is anticipated to come into effect next year. While some fear that the credit crisis could push diversity issues down the agenda of financial institutions, others argue that women’s propensity to be more risk adverse, more cautious and more concerned about the long-term implications of their actions could boost female talent in an increasingly conservative economic climate
Shaun Lynn, President, BGC Partners said:
"Yevette is among a handful of senior women in the world of broking technology and systems. She joined eSpeed as chief information officer in February 2007 and became a member of BGC’s management team post the merger with BGC in April last year with responsibilty for product development and infrastructure management. We are delighted that Yevette has been named to this list and recognised for her leadership and contribution in helping steer BGC Partners through the turbulent markets of the last year."
